About Us

Over the last decade, it has become clear that there were excessive challenges for youth growing up in the Hillcrest and Waverly communities.  Marvin Ausherman, a local business man with strong multi-generational roots in Frederick County, recognized the need and opportunity for positive change.  His vision was to establish a youth center that provides a location for accessible, affordable programs in a safe, supportive environment for kids and their families.

In 2007, Mr. Ausherman, working through the Ausherman Family Foundation (link), established the initial funding for the Frederick Alliance for Youth to embark on the mission to develop a building, create innovative programs, and to ultimately effect substantive, positive changes in the Hillcrest and Waverly Communities.
